Un splendide rapprochement s'est produit le 31 janvier 2017 entre la Lune, Mars et Vénus.
Visible environ une heure et demie après le coucher du Soleil, ces trois astres formait un triangle étincelant dont il était quasiment impossible d'ignorer sa présence dans le ciel étoilé.

Malgré des prévisions météo défavorables, Maxime Oudoux, un photographe amateur passionné de paysages nocturnes (nightscapes) s'est lancé le défi de capturer cette rencontre céleste. Ces efforts furent récompensés par le passage de la Station Spatiale Internationale située parfaitement dans l'axe Lune-Mars ! Un premier plan structuré et des nuances d'oranges viennent embellir cette rencontre astronomique.

Une telle conjonction n'est pas rare mais n'est pas régulière pour autant, puisque les planètes sont lentement en mouvement. Malgré tout, il y aura prochainement une autre conjonction tout aussi spectaculaire entre Vénus, Mars, Uranus et la Lune le 1er Mars 2017. A noter qu'une comète devrait être visible en dessous de Vénus (2P Encke)...

Remarque : Aux environs du centre géométrique de ce triangle Vénus-Mars-Lune se trouve le point Vernal. Il s'agit d'un point fictif qui sert de référence pour les coordonnées utilisées en astronomie pour positionner les astres (ascension droite et déclinaison). Ce point est également la position du soleil au moment de l'équinoxe de printemps !

An impressive conjunction between the Moon, Venus and Mars occured on January, 31 2017. Visible about an hour and a half after sunset, these three celestial bodies shaped such a shining triangle in the starry sky. So bright that it would have become impossible to ignore it.

Despite a bad weather forecast, Maxime Oudoux, an amateur photographer fan of nightscapes took-up this challenge and managed to capture this lovely conjunction. The International Space Station luckily crossed this celestial trio in the right Moon-Mars direction ! What a magnificient surprise.
The foreground of this image and the orange colored sky make this view even more beautiful.

Such a conjunction is not rare, but is not regular either. The planets evolve so slowly in the sky so that it takes a while until they finally go back to their positions.
However, an other amazing conjunction will take place on Mars 1st, 2017 between Venus, Mars, Uranus and the Moon. Plus, a potentially bright comet will join this astronomical meeting (comet 2P Encke) ...

Note : In the surroundings of the triangle's center, we can find the Vernal point. It is actually a fictive point which is used as a reference for the astronomical coordinates (right ascension and declination).
The Vernal point is also the exact position of our Sun at the spring equinox.
